Fire & Evacuation

Fire Safety

Paddington Central is equipped with fire detection, alarm and life safety systems in accordance with applicable fire safety requirements.

If a fire alarm activates, smoke is detected, or emergency personnel direct an evacuation, residents should immediately follow the building’s evacuation procedures.

During an Evacuation

  1. Remain calm.
  2. Leave your apartment immediately if it is safe to do so.
  3. Follow the evacuation diagrams displayed throughout the common property areas.
  4. Use the nearest safe exit or fire stairs.
  5. Do not use lifts during an emergency.
  6. Assist others where safe and practical.
  7. Follow all directions provided by Fire and Rescue NSW and other emergency personnel.

Emergency Assembly Area

The designated assembly area for Paddington Central is located on Oxford Street adjacent to Paddington Reservoir.

After evacuating:

  • Proceed directly to the assembly area.
  • Remain clear of building entrances and emergency vehicle access routes.
  • Do not re-enter the building until authorised by Fire and Rescue NSW.

Home Fire Escape Plans

Every household should develop and practise its own home fire escape plan.

This is particularly important for:

  • Families with children
  • Elderly residents
  • Residents with mobility or medical considerations
  • Residents who may require assistance during an emergency
