In the event of a fire alarm, smoke incident, or any other emergency requiring evacuation:
- Remain calm.
- Leave your apartment immediately if it is safe to do so.
- Follow the evacuation diagrams displayed throughout the common property areas.
- Use the nearest safe exit or fire stairs.
- Do not use lifts during an emergency.
- Assist others where safe and practical.
- Follow all directions provided by Fire and Rescue NSW and other emergency personnel.
Emergency Assembly Area
The designated assembly area for Paddington Central is located on Oxford Street adjacent to Paddington Reservoir.
After evacuating:
- Proceed directly to the assembly area.
- Remain clear of building entrances and emergency vehicle access routes.
- Do not re-enter the building until authorised by Fire and Rescue NSW.
Develop Your Own Home Escape Plan
Every household should develop and practise its own home fire escape plan.
This is particularly important for:
- Families with children.
- Elderly residents.
- Residents with mobility or medical considerations.
- Residents who may require assistance during an emergency.
Fire and Rescue NSW offers free Home Safety Visits and resources to assist residents in developing a personalised home evacuation plan.

Medical Emergencies and Ambulance Access
If you require urgent medical assistance, call Triple Zero (000) and request an ambulance.
Paddington Central has arrangements in place to assist NSW Ambulance with accessing the building during emergencies.
Building Access
NSW Ambulance has been provided with a secure emergency access code for the main entrance of:
Paddington Central
13 Oatley Road
Paddington NSW 2021
This code allows emergency responders to access the building’s common areas.
For security reasons:
- The code is known only to NSW Ambulance, Building Management and Strata Management.
- No resident, owner or member of the Strata Committee has access to this code.
Individual Apartment Access (Optional)
While NSW Ambulance can access the building’s common property, they cannot access individual apartments without assistance unless the resident has opted into the building’s emergency access arrangement.
To facilitate emergency entry, the Owners Corporation maintains a dedicated emergency access fob that is securely stored within a lock box accessible by NSW Ambulance Services.
The emergency access fob:
- Is managed exclusively by Building Management.
- Does not count towards any resident’s personal fob allocation.
- Can only access apartments that have elected to participate in the emergency access arrangement.
Registering for Emergency Apartment Access
Residents who wish to participate in the emergency access arrangement should:
- Advise NSW Ambulance that they consent to emergency access to their apartment under this arrangement.
- Contact Building Management and request that their apartment be added to the emergency access list.
- Await confirmation from Building Management that access has been activated.
Security and Privacy
To protect residents and maintain building security:
- The emergency access fob is stored in a secure lock box.
- The lock box is located under CCTV surveillance.
- The fob is not labelled with apartment information.
- Access to the lock box is restricted to NSW Ambulance, Building Management and Strata Management.
- No resident, owner or member of the Strata Committee has access to the lock box or its code.
Participation in this arrangement is entirely voluntary. Residents should consider their personal circumstances and security preferences before opting in.
Residents Requiring Assistance
Residents who may require assistance during an emergency are encouraged to:
- Develop a personal emergency evacuation plan.
- Discuss emergency arrangements with family members, carers or support persons.
- Ensure emergency contact details are kept up to date.
- Contact emergency services immediately during an emergency and advise them of any mobility, medical or access requirements.
