Paddington Central is committed to maintaining a healthy and respectful living environment for all residents and visitors. Strict rules apply to smoking within the building and common areas.
Smoking is Prohibited in the Following Areas:
- All common property including corridors, stairwells, courtyards, gardens, car parks, and walkways
- Balconies, terraces, or patios where smoke may drift to neighbouring lots
- Building entrances or areas near air vents or windows
Inside Your Apartment
While smoking inside your apartment is not explicitly banned, you must ensure that smoke does not penetrate into common areas or neighbouring lots (e.g. through gaps or the shared ventilation system). Residents are responsible for taking reasonable steps to contain smoke and prevent nuisance to others.
Vaping and Other Substances
These rules apply not only to tobacco, but also to:
- E-cigarettes and vaping devices
- Cannabis or any other substances
- Incense or other smoke-producing items that may cause odour or irritation to neighbours
Responsibilities of Residents
- Ensure that guests and invitees do not smoke on common property
- Be considerate of neighbours and avoid creating offensive odours
- If you smoke in your lot, do so with doors and windows closed, and use filters or air purifiers where possible
Breaches and Complaints
Ongoing or repeated breaches of the smoking by-laws will result in formal action by the Owners Corporation. If you have concerns about smoke drifting from another unit or being exposed to second-hand smoke in common areas, please contact the Building Manager.
