Daily Rubbish & Recycling
Paddington Central provides dedicated facilities for daily rubbish and recycling disposal. All residents are expected to dispose of waste correctly to maintain a clean, hygienic, and pest-free environment.
Rubbish Room Information:
The rubbish room is located outside, to the left of the carpak entry on Renny Lane. It is in a secure room and requires a fob to enter. The room is monitored by CCTV.
The room includes:
- General waste bins (red lids)
- Recycling bins (yellow lids)
- Green bins (green lids)
- Food scraps recycling service (maroon bin)
Please follow signage and bin labels to ensure correct sorting, including what can and can’t be accepted.
What to Do
- Bag all general rubbish securely before placing it in red-lid bins
- Flatten all cardboard boxes before placing them in recycling
- Rinse food containers before recycling to avoid smells and contamination
- Food scraps recycling service, refer to the council website for more information and to order a free kitchen caddy
- Do not leave any rubbish or bulky items on the floor or outside the bin room
Bulk Rubbish
Paddington Central residents can dispose of large unwanted household items, such as old furniture, mattresses, whitegoods, and electronics, through a scheduled bulky rubbish collection arranged by the Building Manager.
How It Works
- Only the Building Manager can request a bulky rubbish collection with the City of Sydney.
- Collections are arranged every few weeks, and all residents are notified at least two weeks in advance with details of the collection date and process.
- Items can be placed out for collection only after notification has been sent and only on the day before collection (typically Tuesday afternoon).
Keep an eye on building notices and emails for the next scheduled collection.
What You Can Dispose Of
The City of Sydney will collect items in the following groups:
- Group 1: Mattresses and ensemble bases
- Group 2: Furniture and bulky household items
- Group 3: Metals, whitegoods and electronics (e.g. fridges, washing machines, TVs)

Preparation Guidelines
To avoid delays or missed collections, please prepare your items as follows:
- Cut rugs into 1m lengths, roll and tie securely
- Box small loose items – loose materials won’t be collected
- Do not include garden organics, renovation waste or hazardous items
- Place your items neatly and do not obstruct accessways
Where to Leave Your Items
The designated collection point is at 13 Oatley Road near the footpath. Refer to pictures on the notifications. Do not leave items in the garbage room or other common areas – they will not be moved or collected.
